On Dreams

I think I saved ‘em tons when I snuffled all their hope,

I robbed ‘em of their sanity and left their best to mope,

I told ‘em to be practical and blamed it all on dope,

‘Cause tell me dear Cletus why they shouldn’t be like us,

I started dropping gems on ‘em since they were little kids,

I made ‘em keep an eye on all the troublesome in wits,

I told ‘em in this world to make it through you needed rules,

‘Cause tell me dear Cletus why they shouldn’t be like us

I took ‘em to a world I knew would surely break their souls,

And told ‘em just to try and go belong with all the crowd,

I told them they were nothing but some ordinary boys,

‘Cause tell me dear Cletus why they shouldn’t be like us,

I broke the works they made and said it wouldn’t make the mark,

And brought my average friends to see that piece of toxin sink,

I blamed it all on angst and promised I would make ‘em straight,

‘Cause tell me dear Cletus why they shouldn’t be like us,

I think I made it through I see ‘em lagging in the hood,

They’re docile and they’re sad damn I think I’ll write a book,

‘Cause no one in my house will ever be allowed to dream,

I think you get it Cletus they should always be like us,

Hi Cletus am a singer am a sculptor am a king,

It’s awfully been long since I saw my master’s card,

I hope you’re doing fine my regards to all of you,

I guess I’ll thank the Lord ‘cause I never was like you.
