We’re seekers of dreams,
Believers and fiends,
We set up the beams,
To cow when we fail,
We give all we got,
And tether our thoughts,
If Icarus could fly,
Then so could we try.
We’re writers and acts,
For screens and for you,
We’re pious and right,
But just for a while,
We’re lose and restrained,
When loved we’re estranged,
We’re broken and whole,
For needs and for cause,
If Icarus could fly,
Then so could we try.
We love lauding fear,
And call that respect,
We shun all that’s dark,
And call it defect,
We seek nothing more,
Than worship and awe,
We loot from the weak,
And label them poor,
We love seeking God,
But hate who he is,
If Icarus could fly,
Then so could we try.
We’re mothers we’re sons,
We’re fathers we’re nuns,
We’re simple and bleak,
We’re maverick kings,
We’re loathsome and sweet,
The arrogant meek,
We’re children we’re teens,
We’re cripples on feet,
We’ve got nothing else but a thought in our
sights,
If Icarus could fly,
Then so could we try.
