Sucks for a Twofer

A tale of tragedy and pain,

Is never good for just a twofer,

You pick the snowing and the rain,

And have your feelings in a cooler,

For lots of people it’s a game,

To thrill the eye and draw allure,

But those who know the terror lane,

Know it sucks for every twofer,

You see you tell yourself it’s fine,

That, “This by God is meant to be,”

Apportion nature call ‘em signs,

It’s two for two, it’s you and me,

And maybe y’all just love the ride,

Or not observant like I am,

But deep inside you always know,

This shit it sucks for every twofer,

You see the point of tragic tales,

Is to push the hero to the limits,

To strip him naked, feed him some bane,

And make him wanna go be wicked,

Achieving that isn’t quite a feat,

All you need to make it so,

Is keep him forlorn with a loss,

So the problem with a twofer,

If you have a bit of wit,

Is that right when the trailer hits,

You know that sooner more than later,

The other shoe is gonna drop,

And they’ll leave you in the swamp,

Wading through the mud alone.
