Bang! Bang!

Funny how it is,

The effort that I put in,

To case a joint and learn its ins,

Its intricacies its worth and dints,

I know the retailer,

Cashier and grocers,

The resident bum,

And the cutesy girl they love to ogle at,

I know its shelves,

Its soul and strengths,

The busy days,

When business booms,

The keeper’s Mike, he’s 55,

This is his soul, his heart, and life,

He has a kid, a dying wife,

A dog called Midnight: his one delight,

He knows me well, “That Red Bull Kid,”

Who loves his music, who paints and writes,

It’s been a month or two I guess,

The planning’s done tomorrow’s the night,

I see him laugh and kiss his wife,

His daughter’s jolly: his dog is fine,

I wonder why they made me do this,

Let me spend my heart and mind,

Investing deep in love and joy,

Betraying folks who love me so,

For twenty grand and my humanity,

That’ll sure fade away at the drop of these words,

Bang! Bang!
