I'm a Christian

The cool in the loose,

The shame in the true,

The focus on dos,

Appraisal of don’ts,

Looking enthused,

Sanctimonious and glued,

The blessed camaraderie,

Self-righteous air,

The bathing in sainthood,

And patronage robes,

And looking at folks like,

“It’s us versus them.”

The cooing at fervor,

Embracing restraint,

At least that’s the name,

For a liberal stance,

The day that I followed,

This bright little blueprint,

I finally said,

“I’m Ace, I’m a Christian,”

The weakness of heart,

And strength in resolve,

The bruising of knees,

And reason evolved,

The embrace of love,

And knowledge of truth,

Internalization of folly,

And banishing pride,

The terror and cower,

And deep reverent awe,

Understanding of justice,

And the stench of my “good,”

The shame in the cool,

And search for the truth,

The striving for fervor,

At the cost of applause,

The living for nothing,

But God and well,

GOD,

The utter reliance,

On these blessed words,

The day that I followed,

This bright little blueprint,

I finally said,

“I’m Ace, I’m a Christian,”
